Signed Copy of Sir Peter Cosgrove’s latest book "You Shouldn't Have Joined" & Meeting with the author

An amazing opportunity to receive a copy of his signed book along with a personal inscription and presented to the successful bidder by Sir Peter Cosgrove at his Sydney office at a mutually convenient time.

General Sir Peter Cosgrove AK AC (Mil) CVO MC (Retd) is one of Australia's most significant public figures. You Shouldn't Have Joined ... (an expression much used during his days as a soldier) is the story of Cosgrove's extraordinarily full and eventful life. It is also the story of those who have shared it with him, in particular his wife Lynne.

His memoir allows us an incredible insight into the role and world of Australia's Governor-General. He was there as two Prime Ministers were toppled by their own party. He was there through disasters both natural and man-made, such as the destruction of MH17. He was there for world leaders, and for ordinary Australians. You Shouldn't Have Joined ... is a true reflection of the man himself, filled with intelligence, forthrightness, compassion and a brilliant eye for a telling anecdote.

FEELING THE MOMENT - Mike Staniford

Acrylic on paper with white surround mount and framed in Tasmanian Oak.   Framed size: 55 x 72cms

My passion for the coastline started at a very early age, growing up in England’s West Country and today it still features in many of my paintings. This work, deliberately executed with a reductive sense of composition was made from innumerable field studies and sketches made on various coastal walks on the NSW Central Coast. As well as a sense of place I wanted the final painting to engage the senses, lift the spirit and allow the viewer to feel the moment.

Path from the Quarry #1 - Penny Verdich

Acrylic on Canvas and Framed in a Tasmanian Oak Box Frame. 40cm x 50cm

This art is the work of LBW Trust Board Member and Education Committee Chair, Penny Verdich. Learn more from Penny about the background to this painting:
This year my artwork has been focused on the environment ‘ten minutes from home’. I live on the edge of North Head, an area of remnant banksia scrub which sprawls over a series of sand dunes and contains hidden hanging swamps and melaleuca groves. Stone from the quarry on North Head was used to build the stone walls and the old road on North Head. The Quarry, long abandoned, provides a home for birdlife and frogs.
I’m drawn to drawing and painting North Head because I walk there every day, at all times of the day and in all weathers and the familiar scenes and paths say, ‘paint me’. It’s important to me that  I create a feeling of place through colour, tone, line and shape so that the viewer is drawn into the work and that I have taken them into the landscape that I have created.
